The republicans had a relatively smooth convention in spite of the best efforts of the Ron Paul folks. McCain’s team deserves credit for avoiding a Nevada-like showdown in which the convention was shut down early.

An elitist comment about the armed forces and their ability to read was wrong both in style and substance. He should know better. Shut up and write.

Chellie Pingree

Chellie picked up three endorsements in one week, the League of Conservation voters, the League of Young Voters and the United Auto Workers Union (Bath). Endorsements are hard to define in terms of raw votes, but they a re good for momentum and every little bit helps in a six-way primary.

Kevin Donaghue

The Portland City Councilor and the city of Portland have lots of things to worry about -- and the noise coming from ice cream trucks in not one of them.

The two hosts on WLOB radio have been suspended after on an on-air alteration involving ethnic slurs and four letter words.
