“Republicans” for Obama hold Maine event

Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign has an answer to the Lieberman – McCain connection: "Maine Republicans for Obama."

They held an event in front of Portland City Hall to officially kick off the coalition with Robert Monks, the former chairman of the Maine Republican Party and Sherry Huber, who served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1976-1982.

According to a campaign release, the two are expected to "spearhead grassroots efforts to turn out support for Barack Obama among Republicans in Maine."

In recent campaigns, Ms. Huber endorsed John Baldacci(D) for Governor in 2006 and was featured in an ad attacking the republican candidate, Chandler Woodcock,  Mr. Monks supported Ralph Nader(G) for President, donating $2,000 to his failed bid.

Turncoats for Obama

Will John Baldacci please save these two a seat on the last train out of Looserville?

Can't they find better things to do with their time and money than this? Who do they think that they have any influence over? Their bridge clubs?

Some people in MAine are going to be without, heat, meds, food, etc. These two could team up to help address that situation, rather than this.

Huber

Sherry Huber is also the treasurer of Democrat State Senate hopeful Jeanne Hulit.

People talk about RINOs...this woman uses her party affiliation AGAINST Republicans. She is a very sad woman and needs to stop using an R on her voter registration card as a front for pushing her super left-wing policies.

Stop lying Sherry, you're only making yourself look foolish,

Monks is a huge figure in the history of the Maine Republican Party, and it was his money and organizational help that put Bill Cohen in Congress and helped build the political careers of Olympia Snowe and Jock McKernan.

The last time Monks was

The last time Monks was relevant in the GOP, Reagan had yet to be elected President. He hates his party because Susan beat him in 1996, even after he hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on his 2 opponents.

He is a sad, pathetic old man who needs to stop using his status as a two-time bitter loser to attack his former friends. He's like a divorced husband who bad-mouths his wife around town at all the dingy bars.

I have the taste of vomit in my mouth just from seeing his name in print again, even if it is on a blog and not a real media source. He needs to retire to Florida and just send Howard Dean checks from there.

Not much here

Monks and his family's enterprises receive millions in funding from Government handout programs such as "affordable" housing programs etc... So Obama will help put more $$$ in his extended family's pockets while the rest of us pay more taxes.

Huber is just not relevent in today's politics.

This "announcement" is not much.
