Hey! Over here, it's me - Herb

It could be my imagination, but I think Herb Hoffman puts out more campaign press releases than Tom Allen and Susan Collins combined.  I should also note most of the campaign press releases out of the Hoffman camp are really well written.

Today's press release conveys Dr. Hoffman's disappointment that the four town meetings in August were cancelled.

Ah, Herb, you were never invited.

However, according to the press release, the campaign manager, Lynn Ellis called the Allen campaign and said, "Hoffman would be happy to attend with Allen. But Ellis said Martin told her that the meetings had already been cancelled due to Sen. Collin's unavailability."

Unfortunately, the Allen campaign told the AP that Earlier that day, "We're running against Susan Collins, so we invited Susan Collins."  Which I think means that Herb was not invited.

Dr. Hoffman did manage to get in a few not so subtle jabs at the Allen campaign concluding his press release with this, "During the Democratic primary Allen claimed he could not find time in his schedule to debate his primary opponent, Thomas Ledue of Sanford. Most of those debates were cancelled, but some were held with only Ledue on the platform, taking all the questions."

Would you rather have...?

I mean seriously, from the press releases alone, would you rather have Tom Allen or Herb Hoffman as your next senator? It is clear at this point that the Allen campaign will stop at nothing to bury their own candidate with poor wording and decisions. But Hoffman seems to have a pretty solid staff with at least some resemblance of an intelligent thought process.

Allen refused to deal with Tom LeDue (who may be a little bit more intelligent than our fair congressman) now his party (and some of his own supporters) is trying to force an independent off of the ballot.

This is a man who wants to see union workers rights stripped away, now he's trying to circumvent the democratic process and instead of letting the voters decide he's pulling a Fidel Castro and forcing his opposition out. What is he so scared of? Hoffman taking away from his 30-35% base?

Sorry Tom, your gubernatorial aspirations are fading just as fast as your Senatorial ones.

Castro

Castro makes his opponents follow Maine State laws?

huh?

That IS all that the Democrat (who is not Allen or part of his campaign) challenging the legality of falsely attributed petitions is doing.

Oh you meant how Allen is having all of his opponents jailed for years without a trial like Castro does, right? Please give us a link to that story. It sounds fascinating... only I think the closest thing to that happening in America is being perpetrated by Collins' pal W.

Cranky is ON FIRE!

Are you SERIOUS?

Listen to yourself, The only people in this state that remotely support Tom Allen's campaign are the people at the State Democratic Party.

Let's compare shall we.

In a Democratic nation (which we assert we are) we allow people to run for public office

In a totalitarian regime, they allow only one person to run for election in the interest of the state.

So...let's see where we are now, Collins (The incumbent, who most Republicans actually hold their nose and vote for - so much for that pal W remark by the way)

Tom Allen, the on again off again first district congressman (on when he decides to show up for a vote, off - well he's always off) who has run a less than remarkable campaign to this point

and a third party challenger whose message is most like Tom Allen's. Herb Hoffman

Now, Collins (who will be re-elected by a comfortable margin anyway) doesn't care who jumps in the race

Allen, needs all the liberal and anti-war votes he can get so that he will crack the 30% threshold so he won't look like the idiot he is to run against a popular moderate incumbent.

Who REALLY wants Herb Hoffman out of the race, the Democratic Party or Tom Allen? Maybe they both have a vested interest in having Hoffman out of the race...and again I point to the fact that the only people in this state that remotely support the Allen campaign are the people in Augusta "fighting for all of us"...what a bunch of crap that is.
