T-minus 60 days and collecting

Well, I was wrong.

The signature collectors are on the ground collecting signatures for the People’s Veto campaign. With just two months to go, a coalition of businesses and trade groups has brought in an outside signature collection company to oversee the effort.  Although a number of local Maine companies were interested in the work, the selection of one of the big dogs in the professional signature collection world is certainly a testament to the seriousness -- and cash behind the effort.

A few dozen professional collectors are on the ground in Maine, as well as a number of local volunteers. By Maine Law, all out of state collectors must be accompanied by a Maine resident, who is registered to vote.  These witnesses will be posted along side the out of state collectors.

The big day for collection will likely come on Election Day, although these professional collectors will be at key locations that have lots of traffic seven days a week until the job is complete.
