Operation "Stop Ron Paul" is in full swing. They (party insiders) had a phone call.......and a meeting.
That should do it.
While I am certainly enjoying the Ron Paul hysteria as much as the next person, I am worried that nothing will happen and Republicans will have another boring convention.
I think the Republicans need Ron Paul. Why else would you show up to support a guy who got 21% of the vote in Maine?
Sure---Maine's two senators will be there, and there is the exciting National Committeewoman race between two people who have been around for 25 years. Even Mitt Romey will be making an appearance.
But the Ron Paul people are just so ________________ (fill in the blank)

How can John McCain who is living on disability while serving in the Senate be the nominee?
Ron Paul is only 1 of 4 Congressmen who endorsed Ronald Reagan in 1976
research it and look up what Reagan said about Ron Paul.
Heres a video that made me cry

You hit on the single most powerful argument for Ron Paul's nomination as candidate for 'commander and chief'. The troopies want him as their commander and chief. Good Stuff!
Ron Paul Booth
I hear they are handing out tinfoil hats at Ron Paul's convention booth...along with a free membership to the John Birch Society!
thx cmo
yes that is what I was referring to. Many people who are anti war forgot that it is Conservatives who are anti war and always have been. Neo-Cons and democrats always love interventionism and the democrats want more presence in Afghanistan and Clinton and Obama are threatning Iran and Pakistan and possibly a presence in African Sudan. The Congress has been controlled by democrats for how long? They did nothing. Take Obama for example he claims hes anti war and pro civil liberties. Yet he voted for funding the war and voted for the reauthorization of the Patriot Act. How can anyone trust him. Look at those people's contributors and look at Ron Paul's. Look at Ron Paul's voting record always consistent. Always voted against big govt. also voted against the war and against the funding and against the Patriot Act. Never voted for tax increase and even McCain is quoted saying Ron Paul is the most honest man in Congress.
I see...
Trish the troll has arrived with her inane comments about how anyone who wants to follow the constitution (and the principles of the republican platform: small government, low taxes and rights of the individual) is a tin-foil-hat-wearing nut, and where her intelligent arguments end off Jon Albright is likely make an appearance and pick it up with a comment on how these views are also those of the "lunatic fringe"... my question to them is: don't John McCain's two supporters have more important things to do? like creating an illusion of support or perhaps damage control for your joke of a candidate? (truths are such inconvenient things)...
Truths
The truth is that Ron Paul does has very little chance at a national election right now. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Granted, he might have some good ideas, but a majority of voters are not willing to vote for somebody radically different than your average democrat or republican. They always take one of the safe bets, the lesser of two evils. This holds especially true after the Bush/Gore/Nader election where many voters got burned.
The truth is that instead of wasting our good service folks money on a near hopeless national campaign he should be putting the brunt of those funds and his efforts into voting reform. While Ron Paul labels himself as a Republican he views really put him in the same situation as many third party candidates. He misses out on a huge amount of votes because people tend to vote for either of the two "safe" picks for president. Instant run off voting coupled with a national popular vote would let people rank in order who they would like to lead our country and give a lot more sway to people more like Ron Paul.
The truth is very inconvenient however in the long run much of what Ron Paul stands for can be achieved first through voter reform. That will open the door and begin to rebuild a government of the people, by the people and for the people.
Oh you're so original. I've
Oh you're so original. I've never heard that before. Baaah.

Ron Paul
Paul's analysis of the problem is globalization, corporations using Federal power (enlarging it) for their own interests. His solution non-interventionism (traditional 1920's republicanism), weaken the federal Government, lower taxes makes the problem worse by eliminating the need for corporations to use Federal power to persue their aims. They simply can oppress American citizens by themselfs with no power to contrain them. This is an irrational solution based on a failure to recognize the power relationships that do exist in American society (which is precisely the opposite of what Madison did in the Federalist Papers) and adoption of an ideology whose roots are in the 1920's not in the Constitution which established a strong, aggressive, and responsive Federal Government that would lead a more perfect union. Paul is part of the lunatic fringe because his solution is an irrational response to the times.
I respect but do not support John McCain
correction...
Jon Albrecht (spelled his name wrong but I knew he wouldn't be far behind trish the troll), to his credit though, he actually has an argument and didn't just resort to name calling... I disagree with his argument however and think he needs to do more research, perhaps read "Revolution: A Manifesto" or if he doesn't care to read anything by Ron Paul try "A Nation of Sheep" by judge Andrew Neopolitano...

Paul is part of the lunatic fringe because his solution is an irrational response to the times.
Very funny. Ha ha. Jon, good stuff.
Why don't you waste your time explaining what the power relationships are then.
nh republican, since he was talking about the power relationships and corporations, albrecht could probably buck up on his monetary policy history and the FED. a good free market book might help, what do you think albrecht, is free market a dirty word in your vocabulary?
psst....secret phone calls? what about the blatant propaganda spouted off in snowe and collins' speeches. dynamic duo? haha. dystrophic maybe.
and the cards? did you see those young men holding up the 'yay' 'nay' cards?! how demeaning and a downright travesty.
i can't believe people allow that to happen. what a sham and a shame. the whole things rigged. hang on cuz this waves gonna hit hard.

I do not know who the Maine GOP thinks the people who support Pon Paul are, but it is obv that they don't care.
I support the candidacy of Paul because of his "Republican" ideals.
