The writing on the cake said it all – Maine Hillary Clinton volunteers are bubbling with momentum, left over from the New Hampshire victory, and they are kicking up their efforts here in preparation of the caucuses.
There’s also discussion on how to bring Clinton to the state. Penny Snow, a South Portland volunteer, said she’s heard some talk, and she might even try sending the senator an invitation.
Thursday evening six Clinton supporters met at the University of Southern Maine to plan for the next few weeks, and decide how to mobilize the 70-plus people who signed up to volunteer in the Portland/South Portland area.
“We’re really uniting with all Team Hillary supporters in the state, and all the loose ends are starting to come together,” said Carol Schiller, a Portland volunteer.
Penny Snow, a South Portland volunteer, said the group is committed to helping the national campaign with phone banking and canvassing.
New supporters are coming onto Hillary’s campaign every day, Snow said. Sure enough, USM student Mike Pearce wandered into the meeting, having finished a class in the same building minutes before. He said he is supporting Hillary Clinton because of the good job Bill Clinton did while he was in office.
