First Dude: Obama is bad for snowmobilers

The Politico has this post about a mailer that has hit Maine mailboxes, targeting sportsmen.

The mailer features Todd Palin, husband to vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, warning that Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama’s environmental policies would end snowmobiling in national parks.

“John McCain and Sarah Palin have long been advocates to protect our environment with practical standards – allowing Americans to continue enjoying outdoor recreational activities. Snowmobilers will have a strong voice in the White House.”

ME-2: It’s a ‘Frary Home Companion!’

A Frary Home Companion: John Frary's campaign literature.A Frary Home Companion: John Frary's campaign literature.PALMYRA -- It had been a quiet week in Palmyra, a small town on the edge of Newport. The leaves were starting to change, just as they were throughout Maine, turning the landscape from green to gold.

For Mainers, Autumn means the arrival of leaf peepers, not the national news media. But on Saturday, a state that rarely serves as the backdrop for high-profile political rallies welcomed one of America's newest celebrities: Todd Palin.

Palin gave a rousing speech, met with enthusiasm from about 600 Republicans, some parking a mile away on a narrow dirt road. He was long gone by 4:00 p.m. when the three men showed up.

UPDATED 7:02 pm

PALMYRA -- Moosehead Trail Trading Post isn’t a venue equipped for large crowds, and up until recently Todd Palin wasn’t a speaker used to large crowds.

Still, more than 600 people showed up in the parking lot of the Palmyra variety store to see the husband of the Alaska Governor and Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

His remarks were short, lasting just about five minutes. The crowd rallied around him after and he spent a half hour working the rope line.

“Maine reminds me of Alaska, but you have a lot more colors in your leaves than we do,” he said.

First dude, Todd Palin, coming to Maine?

There are rumors circulating that the McCain campaign is sending Todd Palin to Maine.  The  moose hunter, oil worker,  snowmobile racer and husband to Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin may be heading to the heart of Maine's Second District.  Perhaps as early as this weekend.

While the details of his schedule are not final, it looks like his schedule could include two stops in Maine, one in the Bangor area and another in Aroostook County.

We will keep you posted.
