Senate confirmation hearings: Ryan Low is congratulated by his colleagues following his confirmation by the state Senate.

The Maine State Senate confirmed a series of nominees to various boards and commissions as recommended by Gov. John Baldacci.

The Senate is coasting through the list, as no objections have been made to any of the nominees.

Throughout the legislative session, Karl Turner sat on the powerful Appropriations Committee as the only Republican Senator.  On Wednesday, however, he was there as a third Senate Democrat.

Ryan Low, the deputy chief of staff to Gov. John Baldacci, earned the recommendation of the Legislature’s Appropriations Committee to be the top money man in the state Wednesday.
