As a write-in, Jenkins easily wins re-election as Auburn Mayor

Auburn voters re-elected Mayor John Jenkins as a write-in candidateAuburn voters re-elected Mayor John Jenkins as a write-in candidateWhen a group of citizens approached Auburn Mayor John Jenkins in August, and asked if he'd serve another term if elected as a write-in, he said sure, write-in candidates never win anyway.

When a community-wide grassroots effort went underway to reelect him, and thousands of requests poured in for him to run, he still shrugged it off.

On Election Day, he won by a 2-to-1 margin, with 2,166 votes. Overwhelmed, he took the job. He beat Eric Samson, who had 1,305 votes, and Fred Sanborn, with 514.
