Targeted legislative races for independent expenditure spending

As follows are the top Republicans and Democrats targeted by independent expenditure spending.

The dollar figure represents the total amount spent on behalf of the candidate mentioned combined with the funds spent in opposition to his or her opponent.

If the candidate’s opposition is running under the Clean Elections Act, then he or she is entitled to matching funds.

ME- 1: Summers not qualified to cut hair

First Congressional District candidate Charlie Summers (R-Scarborough) is travelling the state working 30 different jobs to highlight how energy costs are affecting all walks of life.

On Sept. 17, Summers worked in a hair salon, where he jokingly bemoaned that he wasn’t allowed to cut hair or use the chemicals.

They did let him sweep the floor.

Summers has also helped brew beer at Gritty McDuff’s and scooped ice cream with state Senate candidate Chris Rector (R-Thomaston).
