Mitt Romney easily won the Maine Republican caucus today, defeating John McCain by a 52%-22% margin. Ron Paul finished a close third with 19% and Mike Huckabee received just 5% of the vote. Paul had spent considerable time in Maine and was clearly looking for an upset victory.
Today the people of Maine joined those from across the nation in casting their vote for conservative change in Washington,” Romney said in a statement after his victory.
Final Tally:
Romney 2,365 (52%)
McCain 959 (21%)
Paul 857 (19%)
Huckabee 271 (6%)
