Until this year, all presidential nominees since 1972 have accepted federal money and the restrictions that come with it.

Maybe Barack Obama is a different kind of candidate after all.

Of course he's a different kind of candidate -- the first in history to have so much grassroots public support that he can afford to forgo the broken campaign finance system. What's more in the spirit of public financing than 1.5+ million donors?
