After a little prodding from readers, I decided that in fairness to the Republicans I should take a few minutes to translate their response to the Governor's State of the State. I think Senator Weston made a decent attempt to articulate a Republican vision for the state. While I have taken the time to provide a complete translation, I think it is critical for folks to have the entire speech in its original language.
Translation: Hey everyone! We are in the minority party, I have 10 minutes to give a response to a speech that I haven't heard yet--- for an audience of maybe 23 people counting my husband, staff and my teachers in elementary school.
Instead of the usual cut taxes rhetoric - I thought I would just torture John Richardson, Pat McGowan and a few other bureaucrats by singling them out indirectly and using my nice teacher voice -- causing them just enough angst so that they think twice about running for Governor. Because, even though I know these ideas will never happen-we all know they should. Thank you very much, cut taxes and God Bless Maine.

Thank you.
Alex,
Maine doesn't have any provisions for recall of elected officials at the state or federal level (although some municipalities might). Anyone who doesn't know that, or anyone who hyped up his candidacy for Governor two years ago and failed to get on the ballot when a convicted felon who collected all of his signatures himself did, is not to be taken seriously in the political world in my opinion.
