Michaud supports Cheney impeachment

U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud has announced his support for the impeachment hearings of Vice President Dick Cheney.

Progressive Democratic sites are circulating a letter by him to the House Judiciary Committee supporting the resolution spearheaded by Rep. Dennis Kucinich. The letter is dated Dec. 21.

He wrote: “Dear Chairman Conyers,

I write today to request that you include vigorous hearings into the abuses of power by this Administration and include impeachment hearings of Vice President Richard Cheney in the Judiciary Committee schedule for the second session of the 110th Congress…”

Michaud is not a co-sponsor of Kucinich's resolution.

Pro-impeachment Web site AfterDowningStreet.org posted a piece about the impeachment movement in Maine. State Senator and congressional candidate Ethan Strimling pushed a resolution in the spring supporting the impeachment of the President and Vice President, but it was rejected by legislative leaders. A group of citizens, MaineImpeach, is also very active.

Cheney Impeachment

What a happy day when another congress person comes to the table with courage and reason. Cheney and Bush both are verifiably guilty of high crimes against the people of this country, against the constitution and against the world at large. They are guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt, and have been outside of that shadow for quite some time in many people's minds. Now, the majority of America supports the impeachment proceedings, but much of Congress is too concerned about political fallout to do the right thing. Kudos to Mike Michaud and three cheers to Dennis Kucinich for his unwavering devotion to the constitution!
