Whitehouse to campaign with Allen

U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) will attend a rally with Senate candidate and U.S. Rep. Tom Allen (D-Portland) Thursday and Friday.

Allen hopes to unseat U.S. Sen. Susan Collins (R-Bangor).

In 2006, Whitehouse beat incumbent Lincoln Chafee (R-R.I.). Many have drawn parallels between his 2006 race and Allen’s race this year.

Allen and Whitehouse will appear at the following events:

Thursday:

• 3 p.m. Town Hall on energy, economy and health care; York County Community College, Wells
• 4 p.m. Visit to Maine Diner, Wells
• 5:30 p.m. Community Supper, St. Louis Alumni, Biddeford

Friday:

• 10:30 a.m. Town hall on energy, economy and health care, Welcome Center of the Maine State House, Augusta
• Noon Conversation for change at Colby College, Fairchild Room, Dana Dining Hall, Waterville
• 2 p.m. Conversation for Change at Bowdoin College, Morrell Lounge, Smith Union, Brunswick
