Schumer: Dems ‘closing in’ on Collins

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told Washington reporters that 60 Senate seats for the Democrats is in sight, despite earlier skepticism.

Of the Maine Senate race between incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-Bangor) and U.S. Rep. Tom Allen (D-Portland), Schumer said the Democrats are ‘closing in’ on Collins.

MSNBC reporter Abby Livingston wrote:

“Although he refused to guess how many seats the Democrats will pick up, his stats and shrugs indicated that the prospect of the Democrats becoming a filibuster proof 60-vote majority is not outside the realm of possibility. He called the chances of such a scenario ‘better than they were two weeks ago’."

Recent polls show the gap between Collins and Allen narrowing from double digits to 8 or 10 points, depending on the poll.

Is it possible you are

Is it possible you are blinded by party-first reactions and are too narrow minded to see any good in fellow Americans with a different point of view? Just a thought.

susan collins

the barrage of allen ads about susan collins actual, real record have yet to go into full swing. Susan's people have done a masterful job over the years of polishing the image of her as a moderate, but the real record shows she's anything but. It is coming out now how her actions have truly hurt the average folks in Maine. Let's face it, the Bush economic policies have been nothing short of devastating, and Susan voted for every one of them. Eventually truth catches up with image >>> one thing the followers of the Rove doctrine never seem to get.....
