Roll Call, a Capitol Hill publication, has the details of a poll commissioned by 1st Congressional District candidate Charlie Summers (R-Scarborough) that shows 22 percent of the voters in the district are still undecided about the race.
Summers is running against Chellie Pingree (D-North Haven).
The poll, done by Moore Information says Pingree leads Summers 44 to 33 percent, with 22 percent undecided – two thirds of them undecided.

For the Speaker of the Maine
For the Speaker of the Maine House to make a smart remark about Gov. Palin's vice president candidacy shows yet again the arrogance of the Democrat Party in this state and in this country. It was very undignified statement for a Maine leader.
People Who Know Pingree...Don't Like Her
The Pingree Mother-Daughter Team is so out of touch when it comes to the people of Maine that it has now become one big embarrassment!
Mother Pingree, who lied about her romantic relationship with the hedge-fund manager who is funding her campaign, FINALLY got caught by the local newspaper in the lies which will (I hope) be her downfall!
Charlie Summers is a clean-cut, honest guy who didn't just move back here because there was an open seat in Congress. He's been here! He knows us! He's one of us. Summers asked Pingree to do one simple thing. GIVE THE HEDGE FUND MONEY BACK! And she said no!
Shame on Chellie for thinking we're so stupid. And shame on her daughter for thinking she can simply waltz into the Speaker's Chair and spout her opinion as if we care about what she thinks!
Pingree
I agree with the last poster. I'm a democrat. I'm voting for Barack Obama. I'm voting for Tom Allen. I will NEVER vote for Chellie Pingree. She represents everything that the democratic party needs to stray from. To the democrats who are reading this, do your party a favor and vote Summers. Go to www.votesmart.org, find the Maine candidates and compare their stances. Charlie Summers is the candidate for Maine.
Pingree or Summers?
I fully agree with Crossing Party Lines regarding Pingree. Having very faithfully voted Democratic for 40 years when it comes to Presidential and Congressional candidates, I just voted "absentee" (the State needs to change the term to "early") and voted for Charlie Summers. Given Pingree's McCain-like methods during the primaries and her short-lived stint at Common Cause (check the membership change during her short stewardship), the Democratic Party of Maine needs to wake up and support candidates who promote TRUE Maine values. The time of political favors within the party bureaucracy should end. Apparently it hasn't since a member of the State party endorsed her on MPR before the primaries because he "owed her daughter a favor". If that doesn't reek of cronyism, what does?
Impressions
I had the opportunity to speak with both Pingree and Summers. Both appear to be strong candidates, yet certainly with differing views.
My only disappointment: when asked about Iraq and accountability of our political leaders, Mr Summers stated he was not interested in persuing fault. In that regard, I left the discussion with the impression of yet another POL all too willing to overlook trangressions of party members.
IMO accountability and ethics need to be at or near the top of any candidates' message.
