Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama’s Maine campaign is holding a contest for college students to see who can register the most voters by Oct. 14.
So far, the University of Maine at Orono is winning with 962 voters registered, followed by Bowdoin College with 306, Colby College with 277 and the University of Maine at Farmington with 259.
“Maine students are making a difference in this election by registering new voters and organizing their campuses to support Barack Obama, Tom Allen, and other Maine democrats this November,” said Ronnie Cho, Field Director for Obama’s Campaign for Change in Maine in a release. “The ‘Campus Voter Registration Challenge will get more students registered and involved than ever before.”

I smell voter fraud
Wonder who's going to check that they don't vote in Orono and then at home....oh I know, nobody!
Good luck
Yeah, I wonder how many of those names are legitimate. Sounds like people from the democratic party are registering the dead again because their party is very scared about November. Anyways of the losers that they did get to register maybe a third of them will show up to vote on Nov. 4. The other 2/3 will use that day off from school to get stoned or drunk, being the retarded college brats they are.
Typical GOP
crying about the youth vote. GET OFF MY LAWN!
Pathetic
It's pretty sad that the Dems have to rely on those, because of their age are have less knowledge, experience, and savvy, to try and put them over the top.
Those with a few years under their belt (and not receiving Gov't handouts) know what the Dim's are about and don't vote for them.
Do you know what your talking about?
First of I all I would like to say I am more of the campus organizers that has helped to registers almost 2000 students in state of Maine, and there is nothing that you people can say to take away from our success. I can can assure that 90% of every reg card has been filled out by an alive, active young person who cares about the future of our country.
Now someone made reference to the fact that we are scared, you better believe we are scared. We are scared that if we sit back and don't do our part, then we will elect a backwards, Bush conservative to run our country further into the ground. We are the future and are working to ensure its a bright one.
Apparently, NavyVet
if you had it your way, you would raise the voting age to 65. Voting is about the future, especially for your children and grandchildren.
Thank goodness you're not in charge of anything, you ridiculous, old curmudgeon.
Old curmudgeon?
Waaahhh...Aynonomous1 doesn't like me....
I'm not saying they shouldn't vote, my point is that they are not the most aware or have a clue how the world works yet. They don't have a lifetime of observing the duplicity and hypocrisy of the Democrat party, hence, they are Obama voters. In about ten years they will wise up and become Republicans.
The Truth
First of all, to claim that college students are committing voter fraud simply on the basis of being college students is unjustifiable. Find me one case of voter fraud committed by a college student. To disqualify a group of voters simply because of their educational standing is disgustingly unpatriotic and un-American. I don’t care who you are or what your background is, saying things like that is disgraceful.
Navy Vet, you say that because of college students' youth, they "are have less knowledge". I'll agree that we do "are have less" experience under our belts, but to claim that we necessarily "are have less" knowledge of the issues is totally baseless. We as a group are taught by professors who are experts in their fields, attend nearly daily lectures and debates concerning current events, discuss politics during meals, and keep up with the news. Despite your misinformed opinion, we as a group are actually among the most informed voters out there.
Who's scared now?
So we are the ones who are not informed...hmmm. Then why is that that so far the college democrats have registered over 2000 young people to vote, while we hear nothing about the republicans even being organized to do such a thing.
There is at least one democrat office working in every county, some with more then that, while the McCain campaign has 6 in various spots.
It is one thing to call us uninformed, and all the other false thing you have said, but it will not take away form all the work we are doing. You are the one who is scared, by the fact that we have registered over 2000 people to vote knocked on over 4000 doors in Lewiston and and you know what you ain't seen nothing yet. On November 4th will realize that we have had enough of ignorant, backwards people like yourself speaking for us and we want to heard.
Reality check
After 20 years of schooling and 4 degrees I would characterize most Professors as lazy people who can't hack it in private industry and who avoid at all costs having to compete with real people...certainly not "experts".
"Retarded College Brat" and "Another College Retard", instead of jerking off to porn in the dorm room, smoking weed, eating doritos, texting and debating your ipod playlist with some other slack jawed blobby college dweeb, consider joining the military and getting a real education. You'll learn what it's like to miss a meal once in a while and meet patriotic Americans from all walks of life....and Daddy will appreciate not having to support your worthless lifestyle anymore.
Your Reality Check
You have obviously done your research, because every college kid in the country only does those things. And by the way being a college professor is something that a person earns, by years of hard work in their field. I would rather spend 13 hours in lecture with a "lazy people who can't hack it in private industry", then listen to a second of your ignorant banter. Every single college student I know works hard ever day to earn their first degree so that they may be a little better off. If you are going to make such wrong accusations at least some fact to back it up. We simply are doing our school work, trying to be informed voters and maybe get ahead in life. I feel sorry for you, in have completely lost the concept, we are trying to be more American, by registering to vote and become active.
