Allen, Michaud split on bailout bill

The U.S. House of Representatives just rejected a bill to spend $700 billion to bail out the failing financial markets.

U.S. Rep. Tom Allen (D-Portland) was one of the 140 Democrats voting for the bill, and U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud (D-East Millinocket) was one of the 95 Democrats voting against it.

Republicans were also split 65 to 133, for a final vote of 205 to 228.

I can't believe that Tom

I can't believe that Tom Allen would vote for this bill. Does he seriously think that the fat cats on Wall Street need there pockets lined with tax payer dollars?

I know that Tom Allen has been in the House of Representatives longer than Mike Michaud has but Mike Michaud has proven his worth by opposing this radical bailout. Tom Allen should put the tax payers first and rest his hands from towing the party line for the past 12 years. Tom Allen's obligation is to Maine not Nanci Pelosi.

Tom voted for George Soros bailout

Tom got a call from big financier George Soros. He better have voted to bail out Soros after all he and Moveon has done for him.

Good soldier

Tom has always been one we could count on. Michaud will be getting an earful from Nancy Pelosi, that's for sure. He's just too damned independent-minded. Too bad Tom is trailing so far behind in this race - his vote would be one that the Democratic leadership could always count on.

Bailout Vote

"Tom has always been one we could count on."

Oh yeah! It's too bad that this commenter used the word "leadership" after Democratic. If this is leadership, what is Tom? "Followership"?
