In his speech, he talked about Charlie, his six-month-old grandson, and what the world will be like when he grows up.

He said: “Barack Obama and these Senate candidates will make the right choices to deliver the change we need for our generation and for Charlie's. We'll solve our energy crisis. Provide affordable, quality health care to all Americans. And bring our troops home from Iraq so we can address problems here at home.”

He met reporters for a short avail after his speech.

“It’s exciting to be here, to be able to have a speaking role at that moment just after Barack Obama was officially nominated. It’s a kick,” Allen said.

Allen said his wife called him immediately after the speech to congratulate him. He said Charlie likely watched the speech too, but didn’t understand it. Diana Allen is sick this week and was unable to make the convention.

“This is the beginning of a team for change,” Allen said. “I’m proud to be a Democrat, I’m proud to be at my convention, I’m proud to support Barack Obama. We have to build a bigger team, including independents and Republicans, to really change this country.”

What gives?

Were you sent out there to report or repeat press releases? Has Allen got your return flight tickets held hostage? How about some unbiased investigative scribing?

Tom Allen an agent of change? Yeah, right!

Tom Allen has been in politics since he has been in knee shorts. How is electing him - the most partisan Democrat in the Congress - going to change the do-nothing Democratic Senate? Good grief! Does he think we are so stupid that he can go around chanting "change, change, change" and make us think that he is something new and different? The wealthy big union bosses who support him certainly don't want any change in Congress.

Ugh! I hope this guy can disappear into some nameless Washington lobbying job after he loses this election.
