Pingree, Summers claim new endorsements

The Maine State Employees Association endorsed Chellie Pingree (D-North Haven).
The MSEA, part of the Service Employees International Union, has 10,000 people in Maine.
Donna Doore, chairwoman of the MSEA-SEIU Political Action Committee, issued the following statement:
“Chellie Pingree has been a friend of working families, including MSEA-SEIU members, for many years. Chellie stood by working families in the Maine Senate and as past president and CEO of Common Cause. She’s advocating for working families in this campaign.
“Chellie will provide leadership at the national level to help working families struggling with high gas prices, skyrocketing heating costs and rising health insurance premiums. By electing Chellie to Congress, working families will have a strong voice in Washington. She’ll look out for all of us.”
Pingree’s opponent, Charlie Summers (R-Scarborough), today announced the endorsement of the Republican Main Street Partnership. RMSP aims to bolster leadership in the Republican Party, embracing the goals of fiscal responsibility and limited government.
U.S. Rep. Tom Davis (R-Virginia), a RMSP member, issued the following statement:
"The American electorate is weary of the political games played in Washington, and Mainers - and Americans - deserve a representative and a Congress that is committed to rising above the partisan politics and rhetoric to work to make a difference from day one. Charlie has the experience, the knowledge and the leadership skills to be able to reach across the aisle to work with those who may have opposing views in order to get results for his constituents - without sacrificing his own convictions in the process. We could certainly use many more like him in Congress."

Language from Tom Davis about "rising above the partisan politics and rhetoric to work to make a difference from day one". This is a man who was the Republican Campaign Committee chair who raised and spent millions to spread lies about Democrats and get some of the most partisan people elected. He also gave thousands to Tom Delay's Defense Fund.
He was also responsible for partisan gerrymanders across the country to squeeze out more seats for Republicans. The fact that he would tell people in Maine to support someone who is "not partisan" and simply laughable.

Have you folks not heard about the rise in energy prices? How about the war in Iraq and how it's hamstrung our ability to respond to foreign crises? (Like the current one in South Ossetia...) The healthcare crisis?
