PolitickerME interview with David Bright - David Bright
Not only was David Bright bounced from the Maine State Democratic Committee, but from the executive committee as well.
The conservative discussion board As Maine Goes broke this tidbit yesterday, when Bright provided a statement to AMG Editor Scott Fish by request. Bright then referred others to this statement.
Bright was removed from these committees at last week’s meeting because, according to him, he was a supporter of Herb Hoffman, who was an independent candidate for U.S. Senate up until yesterday when the Maine Supreme Court ruled that enough of his signatures were invalid to remove him from the ballot.
Committee members justified his ousting, he said, because he did not support Democratic candidate Tom Allen, and by being on the committee he’d be privy to confidential information, something he denies.
In his statement, Bright wrote:
“Yup, voted off the island, because I helped a personal friend, Herb Hoffman, get on the November ballot. Problem is, Herb isn’t a Democrat, but a former Democrat who now is not only running as an Independent, but is running as an Independent for U.S. Senate. Here in Maine, the race for President is actually taking a back seat to the U.S. Senate race ever since Tom Allen decided to cash in his assured re-election to the House of Representatives in order to get into a high-stakes game where the winning hand earns a six-year term in the U.S. Senate. Allen has been backed, since well before he won his primary, by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) – a Washington DC group dedicated solely to electing Democrats to the U.S. Senate.”
The caused an angry e-mail from state committee member Ed Lachowicz of Augusta, upset that Bright didn’t give the exclusive to the Democratic blog Turn Maine Blue.
The e-mail thread between the two was posted on Turn Maine Blue (warning: explicit language used). In it, Lachowicz prefaces by explaining that he respected Bright, and only would have helped vote him off the state committee because he in fact advised Hoffman.
Bright responded to Lachowicz: “I don’t follow that site every day, and don't know much about it except that it's primarily a conservative site. The simple fact is that Scott Fish -- who's a neighbor and who signed Herb's petition at the Dixmont Town Meeting-- asked me to write something.”
Lachowicz responded: “There's no "primarily" about it. They ban Democrats unless they're good cannon fodder. You just contributed to a site that removes people based on who they support for a candidate.”
UPDATE: Lachowicz has written a post on Turn Maine Blue. While he is upset that a private communication was made public, he explains and apologizes for it.

If you're going to include me
in your sensationalist tabloid journalism, get your facts straight:
1) David was not removed from the DSC, at least not by the DSC. Penobscot County may have chosen to recall its alternate, but the DSC has no such power to do so.
2) I wasn't at the meeting and did not cast a vote. Had I been present I'd have voted for removal. Had you actually read what you're reporting on, you'd know that.
Do we need to fact-check everything you write when it has anything to do with party rules, or bylaws? You would serve yourself well to study them before you try reporting on party activities.
Cut your losses.
Eddie you should shut your face.
You're making Dems look like idiots, and you better be prepared to be the next one voted off the island.
This is the most embarrassing thing I've witnessed within the party in years. You should be ashamed of yourself.
And BTW: The Tom Allen people were really psyched to hear about your Ledue bumper sticker.
The one making Dems look like idiots
would be the one publishing private conversations for the public to see.
But you notice they're still there? Despite the fact I could ask they be pulled, and likely succeed? I'm not ashamed of saying what I did. I'm ashamed that David Bright opted to make it public.
As for my Ledue sticker, I told Tom Allen that when he begins taking the courageous stand that we need in the Senate, that I will do more than vote for him. I have said it before during the primary, we need someone who will stand up for us.
Fact is, there's very little difference between David Bright and I. Major ones being I didn't (and wouldn't) work for Hoffman, didn't sign his petition, and continue to engage in party work that helps Tom Allen win. Because I'm a Democrat, and because I actually have some ethics. If I was going to work for Hoffman, I'd have quit.
And if someone wants to come to Kennebec County and take me down, they're welcome to it. And good luck finding someone who will work harder to replace me.
Why are you suprised Eddie
Wow! When Democrats hate each other it gets vicious! After acting all neocon-righteous-like-with-a-tinge-of-Nazism, the big happy party just boots two members. Spit.
These are the same Hillary Clinton supporters that pretend to be just so friendly but stuck it to Rita and gave ass wipe DeChant the National Committeewoman post. All because Rita was an Obama supporter. This party sucks.
And the Hillary Clinton supporters wonder why those of us with rational thoughts see them as no different than the reich wingers of America from the past 8 years and can’t stand them?!!!!? Hysterical.
Having experienced what I have
I'm not surprised by what happened... far from it. I'm surprised by the source.
Haven't seen ya in a bit, Kay. Hope all is well.
Typical
Wow..as a reader of both conservative and progressive websites I find this profane, angry tirade directed at Mr Bright very typical of what you find on progressive websites. What is it about the left that they can never admit a mistake and apologize? Ed Lachowicz continues to rationalize his crappy behavior...he just does not get it. Allen and Pingree surround themselves with these types and give us another reason (among many)not to vote for them..
I'm confused.
Have you been to TMB within the last hour?
Wrong again, pal
Navy Vet, nobody mentioned in this discussion works for either the Allen or Pingree campaigns.
Stick to what you know. (There must be something!)
um, link
Just where did Navy Vet say anyone in this thread worked for Allen or Pingree? He said that "Allen and Pingree surround themselves with these types". He's holding folks up as examples, not as workers.
Oh kids, please!!! Stop the
Oh kids, please!!! Stop the bickering. This is the problem. Must you turn everything into a soap opera? Allen is a weak individual. The MDP is completely out of touch with reality ( as usual), mean time things keep getting worse for the average working class citizen. Point is, who really cares about anyone getting ousted from any part of government? If these are the dirty little baby games that the dems want to play, let 'em. I'll still write in Hoffman.
Hey Link..
So are you saying Lachowicz is not working to elect Allen and Pingree? OK, I believe that (sarcasm)....
Clarification
Navy Vet, you wrote "Allen and Pingree surround themselves with these types".
Now, on Earth, most people would assume that you mean that Allen and Pingree had the ability to choose these people (or others.) Are you saying that either candidate or their campaign has the power to choose the members of the State Committee or the leadership of county committees?
I'm sure that would be news to all involved.
Hope this helps...
Many of the people on the left are angry and profane...they become this way because they believe they are smarter than the rest of us and we should get out of the way and let them run the world...when anyone disagrees with this point of view...these intelligent and educated people react with an anger that is way, way, way, over the top, and almost always employ nasty personal insults. Based on my observations, most of the activists in Maine Democrat Party share this affliction and I'm going to make a guess that most of the people in the Allen and Pingree campaigns are Democrat activists.
Activists are the only
Activists are the only people crazy (or stupid) enough to work for the sinking Allen campaign. His staff definitely can not claim to be smarter than ANYBODY let alone everybody.
Navy Vet, First, thank you
Navy Vet,
First, thank you for your service. Boot camp for me was in Great Lakes, then on to the USS Austin LPD#4 out of Little Creek Va.
I would like to ask you a question. What do you consider "over the top", when it comes to the public's remarks pertaining to our elected officials? There is no secret that there is a huge disconnect between what we the people need and want from our government as apposed to what the government, ( at any level from either side of the isle ), actually does. One example that comes to mind is the way our Veterans are treated. You must know as well as anyone of the horror stories of how our Vets are getting "shafted". Well my friend,
when this happens, I won't be nice to the politicians. They don't deserve it. Another example would be the uncontrolled spending. Our so called leaders have borrowed us into oblivion due to poor management. Mean time our taxes are through the roof. Again. Don't ask me to be nice. So Navy Vet, when these people want to fight about an issue as minute as this one while there are greater issues to contend with, I will approach any politician with a boot camp tone, or atleast offer them a behind the barn education. People fought and died, and still are to keep this country great. I won't let some jerk for a politicain let them die in vain, and if that means "slamming" them, that's what I will do.
