Dems oust two for supporting independent for Senate

A.J. Higgins of MPBN has this scoop about two Maine Democratic Party State Committee members were ousted from their posts earlier this week for supporting independent candidate Herb Hoffman.

Executive Director Arden Manning told Higgins that it was a conflict of interest for David Bright and Lu Bauer to sit on the committee while supporting an opposition candidate. Issues may arise, he said, while sitting in on leadership meetings where strategy could be discussed.

Bright disagreed about his access to information about private strategies.

“This is not an isolated incident,” Bright said. Bright is a delegate to the Democratic National Convention for Barack Obama.

I'd Like....

....to invite David Bright and Lu Bauer to join the Maine Republican Party, which doesn't kick people out for making up their own minds - or try to keep people off the ballot.

The MDP has been in power so long that they're starting to listen more and more to folks like John Martin and his gang, running state elections and their state committee like a Stalinist regime.

"John Martin and his group"...

...have nothing to do with the Maine Democratic State Committee. Not even close!

The party rules say that the purpose of the state committee is to promote Democratic candidates. How can the leadership of the Party work for a candidate running against the Democratic candidate and still be allowed to maintain that leadership position? This was a no-brainer for the MDP.

The way that the "MDP" and

The way that the "MDP" and it's so called leaders are acting these days, These people should be proud they were kicked out. I've never seen such a bunch of babies in my life. It's time we ousted most of these "people" before they ruin everything they haven't already. Way to go weaklings!!!

Good Thing Anony....

.....made such a ridiculous claim.

John Martin is a candidate for state office. Maine Democratic State Committee supports Democratic candidates for state office. Therefore, they have "something" to do with one another.

Oh, and also just that he's a Democrat means that he has something to do with the State Committee.

And, he's the second-in-charge in the Maine State Senate Democratic Caucus.

He's a party leader. How could the State Committee have nothing to do with him? Does that really make any sense?

Geez, people say silly things, don't they? Try thinking before you write next time.

Dear PD

Know something about your topic before YOU post.

The State Committee has very little to do with the Legislature. They do the budget and rules of the Party. The Dem Caucus in the Leg does their own thing. Sometimes they all don't agree. I don't think John Martin, or most other legislators, have set foot at a state committee meeting in years.

Sounds like a good

Sounds like a good old-fashioned purge of communists. This sort of thing was once a staple of the Democratic Party.

Hoffman must be a real threat.
