Politicker photos and video: Protest over bottled water

Protesters gather outside the trustees' board meeting

On Wednesday a group of activists gathered in front of the Kennebunk District Water Trustees meeting to protest a proposed contract with Nestle Waters which would have allowed them to extract 432,000 gallons of water from their towns. Click here for more information.

The trustees postponed the issue until the end of July.

PolitickerME has not yet been able to reach officials from the water trustees office, however Superintendent Norm Labbe told the Portland Press Herald that they want to conduct an independent scientific review of the issue and also would like a chance for residents to give input.

"We want factual information not misinformation and hype," he told reporter Seth Harkness.

The trustees' meeting room, which activists said was intentionally too small

I hope that Kennebunk water

I hope that Kennebunk water tastes good because I look forward to picking up my own bottle of it at my local ExxonMobil station.

Let's do it ourselves

Why don't we the people pool our resources, offer a sales and purchase agreement, buy the water reserves, bottle it and sell it for a profit (to maximize our own investment) and...oops, that's what Poland Springs is doing - never mind.
