Women's Coalition Formed in Support of Scontras for Congress

One hundred women sign letter endorsing 1st District Republican

PORTLAND - A group of one hundred Maine women (listed below) have announced the formation of the Scontras for Congress Women's Coalition in support of Republican 1st District Congressional candidate Dean Scontras. Comprised of mothers and grandmothers, single women and daughters, home schooling moms and schoolteachers, professionals and students, the coalition is a representative cross-section of the women of Maine's 1st District.

The Scontras for Congress Women's Coalition is being chaired by 1st term Republican State Representative Kathy Chase of Wells.

"I am honored to chair the Scontras for Congress Women's Coalition," said Representative Kathy Chase of Wells, Dist #147. "Dean is a candidate with strong principles and the ability to articulate his stand on the important issues facing our nation.  Be it the economy, border security and illegal immigration, high taxes or over regulation of business, Dean Scontras takes a position and supports it with facts. His strength and energy is the kind of representation Maine deserves in Washington."

"I became an advocate for Scontras when I first heard him speak at the Republican caucus in Damariscotta," said retired marketing manager Connie Moss. "We need a young voice to deliver an energetic and optimistic message to attract young Republican voters.  Dean has the right conservative credentials and is right on the issues that address small businesses in Maine."

"Dean Scontras is a man of unwavering principles who understands the benefit of conservative fiscal and social policies, along with the need for a strong national defense," said Ellie Espling, a mother from New Gloucester who home schools her four children. "I have been motivated to vote for a candidate at the polls in the past, but Dean is a candidate who inspires me to hold up signs, make calls, or do whatever it will take to get him elected."

"I support Scontras for Congress for many reasons," says Amy McClellan of Eliot, whose husband, Brian, is a member of the Army National Guard and currently deployed in Iraq with Charlie Company, 126th Aviation Unit from Bangor. "The most important reason to me personally is his support of the Armed Forces in the war against terror."

"In Dean Scontras we have a person who stands for things the average conservative woman has only wished for in a candidate: fiscal restraint, high moral standards, patriotism and personal accountability: all things of paramount importance to me each and every day while managing my home and family," concluded Diane Simmler of Bath, mother of four whose husband, Fran, recently returned from a fifteen month tour of duty in the Middle East.

A third generation Maine native, Dean Scontras was born and raised in Kittery and graduated from the University of Maine, where he played football for the Black Bears.  Scontras lives  in Eliot with his wife Dawn and their two children, Jack and Zoe.
