GOP convention speeches: Dean Scontras

First Congressional District Candidate Dean Scontras calls himself a Reagan Republican, boasting his fiscally and socially conservative values.

He opposes gay marriage and abortion. As far as foreign policy goes, he says Congress should not be in the business of making military decisions, and says any decision to pull troops out of Iraq now would be irresponsible.

Scontras has made the illegal immigration issue a cornerstone of his campaign. He has called on state officials to stop giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, and supports policies that combat people coming into this country illegally. Click here for his written remarks.

Friday he came into the convention with an entourage of about 200 people, waving signs and banners. He was introduced by conservative radio talk show host Ray Richardson.
