John McCain may be the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, but word is going around that the Ron Paul state delegates will be present and vocal at this weekend’s Republican State Convention.
Combined with the fact that both the Republican National Committeeman and Committeewoman seats are up for grabs, it’s going to be a lively weekend. PolitickerME.com will be there bringing you the play by play.
Paul's supporters are using online organizing tools such as www.ronpaulforums.com and www.meetup.com to gather the troops in Maine. The public forums are sparse on details but make it clear that organization is happening among delegates.
One thread on the Ron Paul forums is titled “URGENT! Call to arms in Maine”. It requests that all delegates contact the poster, and also notes that there is a ‘back door’ way to become a state delegate.
Bonnie Tucker, a state delegate for Paul, estimates that one-third of the state delegates this weekend will be for Paul – though that’s a very rough number.
“There are a lot of people who do not like John McCain as a Republican candidate,” Tucker said. “He has a lot of baggage. Anything can happen -- we’re just sticking in there until the end.”
Tucker is one of several candidates running for local offices as a “Ron Paul Republican.” She is running for the state House of Representatives.
Ken Lindell, who chaired Paul’s campaign in Maine, is also hoping to reclaim his old house seat this year.
“We just want to bring the Republican party back to its roots,” Tucker said. “We’re a conservative party, a small government party. The Republican Party has turned into another Democratic Party.”
Maine isn’t the only place the Paul fans are active. In Nevada last weekend, party officials shut down the state convention after the Paul state delegates managed to attain more national delegate slots than originally intended, the Associated Press reported.

Just wanted to correct
Just wanted to correct you.
IT is not Ron Paul who is organizing RonPaulForums or the meetup groups. It is illegal to do that and your blog kind of hints Ron Paul is doing illegal actions. I was really offended by this statement: "Paul is using online organizing tools such as www.ronpaulforums.com and www.meetup.com to gather the troops in Maine. "
Ron Paul forums is a private forum where supporters gather together to discuss important issues and organize. It has nothing to do with Ron Paul. Its us his grassroot supporters. Just correcting so that people who read your blog dont get the wrong idea about our candidate
Thanks for pointing that
Thanks for pointing that out, all fixed.

First of all, Maine National
First of all, Maine National Convention or State Convention delegates are not pledged to any candidate – they ran for the offices individually on their own merit, not based on which candidate they support. The Paul supporter’s description of “Paul delegates” reflects their general inexperience with the Maine Republican Party (probably because most of them are RINOs anyway) and their lack of respect for the tradition of the Maine GOP.
Secondly, after the un-American filth that woman sent out to all the delegates, anyone supporting Paul should be ashamed of themselves. The Paul campaign should apologize for her statements and disavow her as a supporter; she’s the Maine Ron Paul equivalent of Pastor Wright.
Paul delegates are trying to ruin the Maine and national GOP, turning us into the Democrats by not supporting our troops. They will hurt our chances of victory in not only the Presidential race, but in all down-ticket races as well, right down to state legislative races.
The Ron Paul Ego Trip can be compared to an abusive husband who insists that what he does is for her own good, while everyone else realizes it’s about his desire for control. These people don’t care about the party. They care about themselves.
Response to PatriotDelegate
I find your response interesting. For one ting you don't address one issue that is addressed in the letter. Instead you go after Ron Paul supporters. That tells me one thing. Your response has no merit whatsoever. Call us whatever names gives you a thrill, because we've already been called that more. I doubt you could take it. I know all the facts have been backed up in that letter. If you think people don't care about what Presidential preference a national delegate candidate supports, your fooling yourself. But I guess I'll quote something former Reagan Senior Advisor Charlotte Iserbyt from the letter to close with, "Do not allow yourself or your vote to be prostituted in the name of party unity. Put your country first."
Another Reason
Looks like yet another reason for a national popular vote + run off ranking system. . . .
For the Patriotic delegate
I would just like to say that I dare put my name on what I write as does the woman who wrote the letter.
Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt, Sr. Policy Advisor, U.S. Dept. of Education during the Reagan Administration, would not write anything that she did not have the facts to back up.
And, furthermore, congressman Ron Paul does support the troops. It is John McCain who wants to keep them fighting and being killed for 100 years.
democrat
saying john McCain wants to fight in Iraq for 100 years is untrue and has become a democrat talking point.
maybe ron paul isn't the real republican....

Ron Paul or John McCain? Dont ask who supports the troops rather ask WHO DO THE TROOPS SUPPORT?
Untrue?
Watch it yourself and then tell me it is untrue:
McCain: Make it 100 years
To be fair, some others do as well, they just aren't willing to say it.

Be prepared for anything
And keep on your toes. We voted down rules that would have prevented a large number of Ron Paul delegates, voted against a ploy to limit everyone's votes, and then got the abrupt ending of the convention when it became obvious to the party leaders than Ron Paul had the majority.
Even many McCain supporters were angry at the way it ended. Nevada is a larger state than Maine, and a lot of people spent a lot of money for gas or airline tickets and lodging. A whole lot of bad feeling went out toward the chairman, Senator Bob Beers for bailing out instead of allowing delegates the right to vote.
Read and study parlimentary procedures, read and study the condensed version of Robert's Rules of Order. (Full book: around 600 pages.) It's information they have and you will need.
Ron Paul's speech electrified the audience! I wish he could speak at every convention.
I'm glad to hear that a former Reagan advisor, Charlotte Iserbyt, had the courage and conviction to write the letter to the delegates telling them the truth about McCain. That may help give you the edge you need to win.
Lastly, good luck, stay until the gavel is struck ending the convention (no matter how long it takes; believe me on this one), and win for Ron Paul!
This man predicted Black Monday in 1983

How can John McCain who is living on disability while serving in the Senate be the nominee?
Ron Paul is only 1 of 4 Congressmen who endorsed Ronald Reagan in 1976
research it and look up what Reagan said about Ron Paul.
