PolitickerME.com is looking for an intern

PolitickerME.com is looking for an intern this summer to help with our campaign coverage.

The ideal candidate will be a college student living in Maine with an interest in public affairs journalism and multimedia. Candidates must not be affiliated with any partisan political organizations.

An internship with PolitickerME.com will be a valuable experience for someone hoping to go into political journalism and/or online media. He or she will learn the ins and outs of the political process from a unique perspective.

Politicker.com, a division of the Observer Media Group in New York, is rapidly growing and will have many positions opening up in the fall and next year. A growing network of state-based sites, our goal is to cover all levels of politics from the ground up.

This is not your typical grunt-work only internship. The intern will take on stories based on skill level, and will have an active role in our coverage of the local and national races. He or she will be expected to:

-Assist with coverage of major events such as the state conventions and primary election

-Take photos and do write-ups of live events

-Write a weekly feature of his or her choosing, possible topics could include municipal races or campaign staffers

-Assist with list-making and briefing press releases

Hours per week and start dates are negotiable. Availability during the general election is a plus but not a requirement. Candidates must have their own laptop and camera.

This is an unpaid internship, but we will work with colleges to fulfill academic credit requirements.

If interested, e-mail Jessica.alaimo@politickerme.com for more information.
