Brennan touts strongest three months of fundraising yet

PORTLAND - Democratic congressional candidate Michael Brennan released his fundraising totals for the first three months of 2008 today, showing his top three months of fundraising since he first began fundraising in February of 2007.

"I am deeply grateful to the donors who have given more than 1,400 donations to this campaign, including 450 over the last three months," Brennan said. "Our supporters are committed to making this campaign succeed."

From January 1 to March 31, Brennan reported $59,102.16 in contributions, for a total of $210,489.08 raised to date.

A report by the news website PolitickerME.com did a study earlier this year and found that Brennan had the highest percentage of in-state donors among all the candidates running for Congress in both parties. Brennan currently counts over 84 percent, or more than five-sixths of his donations, from Mainers.

"This campaign has promised voters a new direction for Maine and for America based on opportunity, community, and peace, and the response to that message continues to grow," said Peter Asen, campaign manager. "With this most successful quarter yet in terms of numbers of donors and money raised, we are on track to meet the campaign budget we need to win the primary in June."

"We are not going to buy this election with the most out-of-state donors or $2,300 contributions," Asen said, "but we are going to win it with the best ideas, the strongest grassroots support, and the most heart."
