Retired college professor and Farmington Selectman John Frary announced that he has collected the necessary signatures to make the ballot as a Republican challenger to U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud (D-East Millinocket).
“It was really very humbling to see all those names flooding in giving me the writ of the voters to interrupt my opponents coronation,” Frary said in a news release. “I didn’t have to pay anyone to do it, and there was very little begging. Some, but very little.”
Frary, who in November described his campaign as “such a long shot,” said he had submitted over 1,100 signatures.
At the outset of his campaign, Frary said that he was running because Michaud doesn’t impress him much, and there were no other challengers.
He is once again promising to run a different type of campaign:
“I intend to reward the voters of Maine with a rare treat - an opportunity to hear what I actually think, when I do indeed have a thought, which does occur from time to time. This is in complete contradistinction to my opponent on all points.”

Great!
John Frary would be a breath of fresh air in the stench of Maine's socialist politics. This unfortunately means he hasn't got a snowball's chance, but God bless him for trying!
