Don't expect Maine's U.S. senators to be a presidential runningmate. In a survey of the U.S. Senate's membership not already running for president on whether they'd accept an offer to be vice president, The Hill newspaper found a variety of responses to the veepstakes question. Some were accompanied by laughs, others took the question seriously.
So, how did Republicans Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe respond?
Says Collins: “I’m not going to be asked, so I’m not going to speculate. It’s not going to happen.”
Says Snowe: “I like where I am in the United States Senate. Obviously, you would always consider something like that, but I’m happy where I am.”
Republicans have been taking steps to own the energy issue in Maine, hoping they can ride the energy wave to victory on Election Day. >
No responses...
They didn't ask U.S. Senators Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton :)
