PORTLAND, Maine-- In an historic show of support, the Professional Firefighters of Maine, members of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), and the Maine Fire Chiefs Association, the Maine Troopers Association, and the Maine Ambulance Association, will join U.S. Senator Susan Collins as her "First Responder Bus Tour" rolls through Southern Maine on Friday, September 5.

The tour, intended to honor the sacrifice of Maine's brave first responders and Senator Collins' unwavering support for the men and women who serve as firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and paramedics, will kick off with a rally outside the gates at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where federal firefighters, who are members of the International Association of Firefighters, will endorse Senator Collins for a third term in the U.S. Senate.

From Kittery, Senator Collins' campaign bus will have an IAFF motorcycle escort up Route One, with scheduled stops at fire stations in York Village, York Beach, Ogunquit, and Wells. From Wells, the tour will roll up Route 109, where Senator Collins will join local first responders at a chili lunch at at the American Legion Hall. Following lunch, the Collins First Responder Bus Tour hits the road again with a scheduled stop at the Saco Fire Station, before heading to Portland for an exciting rally in Bell Buoy Park on Portland's waterfront. At the conclusion of the rally, the bus tour will continue with a stop at the Freeport firehouse, and will conclude with a final stop at the Lewiston/Auburn Greek Festival.

"I am honored to have the support of Maine's first responders," said Senator Collins. "I can not think of a better way to thank all of these dedicated men and women than by bringing my statewide bus tour to their hometowns, where they work every day to protect the lives and properties of their neighbors."

To date, Senator Collins' statewide bus tour, which kicked off in Bangor on September 1, has stopped in Old Town, Medway, Smyrna, Houlton, Mars Hill, Presque Isle, Caribou, Gardiner, Blue Hill, Norridgewock, Skowhegan, Waterville, Westbrook, Lewiston, and Biddeford. The bus, which also serves as the Collins for Senator mobile headquarters, continues to carry many dedicated volunteers and staff around the state who are working to ensure that Senator Collins is reelected.
