With Senator Beth Edmonds missing in action at the State House today, the Senate Democrats found themselves in the awkward position of not being in the majority. Seizing on the chance to annoy their colleagues, Senate Republicans attempted to force action on certain items on the calendar that Democrats wanted tabled --as a result of their diminished numbers in the Senate chamber.
At one point, Senator Martin actually requested a roll call for a roll call to table a bill. A little drama ensued - where upon, the good Senator from Eagle Lake suddenly realized he was not in the House of Representatives and was no longer Speaker. Fortunately for the frustrated Senator Martin, Senator Libby Mitchell was able to make her way through the entire affair, thus ending any Republican hopes of glory.
Nothing was done. All was tabled, and it was another busy day for the muffin club.
